Every year I look forward to the Skytrax awards. It’s the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey. The information is gathered online across 18 million customer who completed the survey across a wide range of topics, covering full-service to low-cost-carriers. But sadly, this year not one North American airline made the top 10 list. The top 3 spots were taken by Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and ANA All Nippon Airways. Singapore Airlines held this honor last in 2008, but this time around they beat last year’s victor, Qatar Airways, into second place. Emirates took 4th place, EVA Air 5th and Cathay Pacific Airways 6th.
Within all of North America though, our very own Air Canada won Best Airline! They also won Best Business Class and Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America. And more Canadian success goes to WestJet and Air Transat, with WestJet winning Best Low-Cost Airline in North America and Transat winning Best Leisure Airline in the world!
Now as for the more specific categories…Best Inflight Entertainment went to Emirates, Best Economy Class Seat went to Japan Airlines, and the World’s Best Independent Airport Lounge went to Plaza Premium.
And if you’re visiting our neighbours, Southwest Airlines won Best Low-Cost Airline in the USA and United Airlines won Best Business Class Lounge in the USA.
More than 100 different nationalities participated in the Skytrx survey, which covered over 200 airlines…so really you can’t argue with those results, they are definitely thorough!
