Packing for a weekend getaway can be a challenge. There always seems to be a fine line between over packing and forgetting to pack something you wish you had. Ladies, here is a list of my essentials for that weekend away.

My first important note is to make sure each piece you pack can go from day to night…well except your beach wear!

Choose one or two neutral shades for your main pieces. Think black, white or beige. You can add a few pops of color or bold prints in later with your accessories.

Now this next trend is quite big this year – colored jeans. They seem to have every shade of the rainbow out now and they tend to look a bit more refined that the classic blue jean. You can always opt for a basic white jean for that crisp, clean look.

I definitely recommend bringing a solid light weight dress that can be dressed up or down with a few bold accessories and heels or flats.

Instead of a cardigan – you can bring a button front shirt. They really go with everything and you can wear it over your bathing suit, with shorts or jeans.

Back to accessories – make them count! Belts, jewelry and scarves really take up a small amount of room in your suitcase – and they can make the most impact when it comes to changing an outfit.

Finally…shoes. Now I have a serious weakness for shoes, and I know how tempting it can be to bring all your favorite pairs but realistically, they are the heaviest items in your suitcase so you have to keep it down to a minimum of two pairs.

A neutral wedge is not only comfortable and versatile, but can easily dress up an outfit. And for the second pair, a flat sandal can easily take you from the beach to the airport.
